Jillian's World...brief but beautiful!

The beginnings of life for an enegetic infant

Sunday, July 31, 2005

Well,
Day two is down. Jillian is perking up nicely. The meds Kat has been on have been making Jillian a little sleepy but she's doing real good. She started eating well today. She's taken to nursing quite well. Kat's happy about that. Jillian has been mostly snacking, but she'll get into a routine here in the next day or so.

She's beautiful too. Late this afternoon she openned her eyes and just started looking all around at us. She's also started trying to follow the movements of someone talking to her. It's neat to see her little eyes fluttering while she tries to focus on you. Already growing and progressing. Wow.

Tonight, Jayna and I were heading back to the house after dinner with Nonnie, PaPa, Grammy and Paw Paw. She and I were in the van by ourselves driving and listening to the news and she said, "Daddy.... I love my baby sister."

"Me too baby, me too." was my reply.

She's going to be a GREAT big sister. She's VERY loving towards Jillian, and although she isn't totally gentle with her, she's learning.

What a GREAT sister.

Check out the Day 2 Gallery to see Jayna and Jillian with mommy.

Our precious little Jillian's doing so beautifully! Found out today that she scored a 9 and 9 on her Apgar score! That means that at 1 minute after birth she made a 9 (10 is a perfect score that NO one ever gives out) and then 5 minutes after birth, she still scored a 9. What a GREAT baby!!!

We're so thrilled that she's a healthy baby girl without any problems! Unlike her sister, she's holding her temperature very well and is eating like a champ! I have a feeling my milk will come in very soon and we'll be able to feed the 5000! She'll be 10 pounds by the end of the month!

Here's the portrait that was taken today by Growing Family. They are the people that come by the hospital rooms and take baby's first portrait. I can't believe she actually smiled! Of course, she is unaware of what she's doing at this point!!

We're feeling better...I'm not on Morphine anymore...and have been given another pain medication as well as an anti-inflamatory to take to help with the tubal pain. My nurse is making me get up and move around already. I had my shower (oh how wonderful it felt!!) and the family has come and gone all day. We've had a lot of visitors and I've had NO SLEEP. I'm up every 2 hours during the night feeding Jillian...and she's eating so well!

Well, I'd better rest. No telling how long I'll have until the fam comes back!!

Love to all...

Jillian Garrett Curlee
Born today, July 30, 2005
8:46 a.m.
7 pounds, 14 ounces
20 inches long
Dark chocolate brown hair

Looks NOTHING like her big sister...still...she looks like her Daddy.

I'm doing well. In a lot of pain...but the medication is GREAT! Looks like I'm on target to come home on Tuesday, August 2nd (normal 3-day stay). My recovery may take a little longer since I had a tubal ligation (tubes tied), but I'm hoping to be up and moving around in the next day or so.

I'm very tired.....but Jillian's doing wonderfully well and Jayna LOVES her little sister!

Growing Family (baby's first portrait people) will be by tomorrow to take her picture. Will post as soon as possible!

Love to all,
MommyCurlee
