Jillian's FIRST meal....Rice Cereal

Wow! Can you believe we've had our little Jillian for 3 months now? Sunday, October 30th, marks 3 months that she's been with us! Time sure flies!!

I weighed Jillian last night. She weighs 13 pounds, 15 ounces! Almost 14 pounds! She's growing like a weed and nursing almost constantly right now...so tonight, without prolonging the inevitable, she had her first bottle of rice cereal and now, she's sound asleep! Of course, the bottle was a complete mess (Parent's Choice - the Wal-Mart brand - leaked EVERYWHERE!!!) but she sucked it right down!

Last night marked her first night in her bedroom in her big bed! Now our cradle in our bedroom is empty and we're experiencing the "empty nest syndrome" but in a different light. No more babies in our room. :(

This picture was taken tonight, October 29th, and Daddy thought it'd be fun to have her wear his Star Wars ballcap. We're not too sure she was that excited about it. Can you tell by the expression on her face?

Our girls are such blessings...and such gifts from our Heavenly Father. We're grateful for every day we have them. Three months have come and gone....and before we know it, I'll be planning her first birthday!

All in do time...

Let's Go To the Pumpkin Patch!

Today was a great day. Beautiful weather, nice and cool...a mere 77 degrees, and not a cloud in the sky. The perfect day to go to the Pumpkin Patch. We have a special place we go to. It's found at a Lutheran Church on Green Oaks just west of Cooper Street in Arlington. All the proceeds go to support mission trips for their youth group. Well worth the investment.

Jayna's job is to find the pumpkins. One for each member of the family. Today was a hard day for Jilli because she had shots yesterday, so she slept most of the day today. I dressed the girls alike...pink shirts, denim overalls, pink bows for their hair. Perfect for a day at the patch!

This year they had a cardboard standup of some Peanuts characters (Linus, Lucy and a shadow of Snoopy in the background all painted in black). Jayna loved them and so we had her picture made with them. Not only that, but they had a huge haystack where you could have your pictures made with pumpkins displayed all around. We had our picture made (Mommy, Jilli and Jayna) and Daddy and Jayna had their picture made with a scarecrow. Too cute.

Jayna met a cat on a leash, and didn't like him at all. He was a kitten (a teenager cat) that was a little more active than Jayna's used to. Jayna's only met 2 cats in her lifetime...my sister's cat, Lilly (who's afraid of kids and stays away) and Dave's sister's cat, Frances who LOVES Jayna and plays with her. Needless to say, we didn't visit with the cat.

Afterwards, we ate at none other than Chick-Fil-A (Chick-A-Lay according to Jayna) and went shopping at Wal-Mart for groceries where Dave saw a lifesize standup Lego display of Darth Vadar.

Now we're home, ready for bed...ready for a day at church tomorrow. We'll see what goes on tomorrow....

Until then, love to all...

Two Month Exam...Shots Included

Hello everyone!

I wanted to fill you in on our doctor's visit today. Jillian had her 2 month check-up where she had to get her first set of shots: Polio, Hepatitis B, DTaP (Diphtheria, Tetanus & Pertussis) and Pneumococcal Conjugate. Her exam was first with our Nurse Practitioner Cindy Kidman, R.N., C.P.N.P. She's SO sweet and Jayna absolutely LOVES her. She has a great memory and remembers everything about the girls...especially Jayna.

Jillian weighs 12.7 pounds. She's 23 3/4 inches long and her head is 15 3/4 inches. According to the growth chart she's in the 61% of children in her height, she's in the 55% in children her weight and she's in the 33% of children in the head measurement. They were VERY pleased at her weight and said that from birth to 1 month, she gained 2 pounds. From 1 month to 2 months, she's gained 2 pounds. That's the target they shoot for for all newborns...so she's right on the mark!

After the exam was the shots which were given by our wonderful nurse and I think it was hard on all of us including her. Jayna was very overprotective and was wanting to see what they were doing with her little sister at all times. She was very inquisitive and we had to explain just about everything with her approval! She was told that sister would get shots, and she'd cry, but she would be okay. Jayna was ok with that.

Now that Jilli is 12 pounds, she can have a whole dropper full of Tylenol...so we're doing that every 4 hours. Praise God she hasn't had the reaction to the Pertussis that Jayna did! If you recall...Jayna cried for 8-10 hours STRAIGHT. I remember thinking that if this was what it'd be like every time, I was gonna quit my job! LOL!

Remember Jillian in your prayers tonight. She's been fussy and her legs hurt. We gave her a bath and took pictures in which she smiled quite a bit...but she's in her daddy's arms right now sleeping.

Love to you all...

Kat

Grin...Smile...Laugh

Today had such a sweet moment with Jillian...I just have to share it with you.

She was nursing today around lunch when she stopped drinking, looked up at me, grinned (while milk was drizzling down her cheek and onto her neck) and then laughed 3 little chuckles!

It was SO cute!!!

Moments like that...are worth cherishing!

Love,
